I am the “Big Dog” Barry Simon. I have a vast knowledge of and love to talk about sports. My specialty is football and I am extremely focused on fantasy football.
So ask me anything you want but in this blog I’ll answer everything fantasy football related. From who the top five defenses are to how to deal with the jerk in your league. I want to hear from you…

Hey Dog I’m a fantasy freak too. Talk to me about your top 100 and I’ll tell you why your wrong.
It’s good to hear from a “fantasy freak” but when it comes to player rankings, after the top 5 or so at each position, there really is no right or wrong. It’s all about each person’s opinion. I’ll give you my top 5 at each position and I’ll listen if you don’t agree, but again, it’s just your opinion. However, part of the fun of this website is going to be debating various opinions.
QB – Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, Marc Bulger (Donovan McNabb moves into the top 5 if he proves he’s healthy)
RB – LaDanian Tomlinson, Steven Jackson, Larry Johnson (he only stays in this spot if he doesn’t hold out), Shaun Alexander, Frank Gore
WR – Steve Smith, Marvin Harrison, Chad Johnson, Torry Holt, Terrell Owens
TE – Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, Todd Heap, Jeremy SHockey, Chris Cooley
Team Def – Baltimore, Chicago, New England, San Diego, Denver
K – After Vinatieri, I don’t rate kickers because their value changes week to week.
Let me know what you think.
Big Dog here: Afer looking at my top 5 rankings, some may think I forgot to put Alge Crumpler in my top 5 tight ends. The reason for that is the fact that if Mike Vick isn’t the QB, Crumpler’s value takes a serious hit. Joey Harrington doesn’t have the ability to run an effective offense. Take it from me a “serious” Miami Dolphin fan, I saw what he did to that offense last year.
Barry – you freak. Fantasy freak I mean I want to participate in fantasy football. My question is – even though my wife says she is all about me having some fun and joining the boys – her body language says join and I will rip your head off. Help – what do I do?
Well Bif – This sounds more like a problem for Dr. Phil rather than the Big Dog. We would love to have you join the millions of us who are having the fun that goes along with eantasy football. Good luck with your wife.
The “Big Dog”
Bif – I meant fantasy football. My big fat fingers hit the wrong keys sometimes.
Bigdog, Any rookies out there that will have a serious impact?
Well the 2 that I think will have the biggest impact will be Calvin Johnson & Adrian Peterson as I think both of them will get plenty of playing time. However, the next tier of ones to watch are Brandon Jackson, Greg Olsen, Dwayne Jarrett & Dwayne Bowe and possibly Robert Meachem when his injury heals. The final tier is Steve Smith, Craig Davis and Sidney Rice. The rest of the rookies will be hard to tell until training camps start. Quarterbacks Jamarcus Russell & Brady Quinn could be in their teams starting lineups before the end of the season, but I don’t see them lighting the league on fire right off the bat. However, they may be worth a pick in keeper leagues.
The “Big Dog” here. Well with the injuries that have already taken place and some of the holdouts, this is going to be an interesting pre-season. This is why it is much better in my opinion to hold your fantasy drafts as close to the NFL season starting as possible. There are leagues that have already drafted and as you will see, those team owners could be in trouble if they drafted top tier players before knowing whether or not they will actually be available for the start of the season. In my league, we are holding our draft on Labor Day weekend, which is after all of the pre-season games are over so you will know exactly who is injured and who is still holding out due to contract disputes. This is the only sensible way to do your draft and I wish luck to all team owners who have already drafted their teams that the injury or holdout bug doesn’t come back to bite you in the ass!! Let me know what you think.
Palmer vs NE Patriotrs?
or
Pennington vs Buffalo?
I’m torn between this choice…we can expect Carson P. to have a typics 200+ yard game w/ 1-2 TD’s against NE Patriots can we?
Well, I’ve sort of been struggling with this same decision. I have Palmer & Kitna. I’ve decided to go with Palmer and I think you should too. With Rudi Johnson not playing, I think that Palmer is going to pass more than usual. I also think that they will be behind in that game and will be passing in the 4th quarter to try to catch up. I personally think that Palmer will be good for 300+ and 2 TD’s even though I think they will lose the game. Good luck to both of us.
Just to add, I think Pennington will have a good game too, but I think that they are going to lean heavily on the run game against a porous Buffalo D to control the clock & tempo.
I am very pumped about the NFL Superbowl. We’re in for great shoot out. I’ll take the Colts in a close game.
