Volunteering in Tanzania is not some new phenomenon. People have been volunteering in Africa for over 50 years now. Whether it’s volunteering in Arusha or volunteering in rural Africa there is something for everybody. Africa’s population has recently risen over 1 billion people and over 50% of these people live below the poverty line. The people that really need the help rarely receive it from the government as a lot of countries within Africa as corrupt. Volunteering is one of the best ways to aid the people in this struggle and to help them fight poverty and disease. It has a guaranteed success rate and all the local people benefit from this method of teaching and learning.

The World Cup in South Africa is not only a huge step forward for the country but for the continent as a whole. It shows the outside world have put faith in Africa to hold such a prestigious event and trust them with the responsibility. Even though the trust has been given to Africa they have abused it by knocking down apartment blocks and shanty towns in order to build new stadiums and facilities to host the world cup. It does not care about its own people and only cares about how the rest of the world perceives it.

People have not only signed up to volunteer at the world cup to help it run smoothly but are now helping out all over Africa from Tunisia to Mozambique. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to be creative, it boosts your self-esteem, motivation and you learn so much about yourself whilst you are helping the people who really need it. It is the future of travel and tourism so why not jump on a plane to Africa and help someone change their life today.
